Singer Sunday Girl Overcomes Phobia Of Singing with Hypnosis

This is London - 11 February 2011

If it hadn't been for a phobia hypnotherapy session when she was 17, Jade Williams, aka Sunday Girl, now 22, wouldn't have conquered her phobia of singing in public.

'Afterwards I sang in a local choir to test whether I'd been cured. It was amazing, like a weight had been lifted.'

Jade promptly joined a school jazz band in her hometown of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, before going solo.

The name Sunday Girl stuck after working weekends at a pet shop: 'Nobody knew my name so they would just say, "Oh, the Sunday girl will get it." '

She moved to London and studied for an art degree at Wimbledon College of Art and now does all her artwork, between writing songs. 'I used to tell my tutors that I had meetings with Universal but they never believed me.'

Her first single 'Stop Hey!', a synthed-up pop song created with Kylie's producer Jim Elliot, got her a deal with Geffen Records in 2009 and she's since been touring with Ellie Goulding.
